Death

Transformation, ending, rebirth

Associated planet: Pluto

What the card shows

A skeleton mows a ground scattered with heads and hands. The Tarot de Marseille gives it no name: it is the only untitled card. It speaks of ending and transformation, seldom of death in the literal sense.

Upright

The end of a cycle, stripping away, room made for the new.

Reversed

Refusing to turn the page, a transformation dragging on.

In love

A break-up, or the end of one way of loving that makes room for another.

At work

A deep change: end of a job, restructuring, a new career.

The card’s advice

Let what is over be over.

In our four decks

Each deck reads the card in its own language. The illustrations change every day.

Complete darkness is not void. It is the moment the seed is buried, invisible but alive.

The Shedding, Modern Oracle

Modern Oracle

The Shedding

What leaves had to leave. Don't hold on to what no longer resembles you. The void it leaves isn't a lack, it's space.
